Paisley First Art Murals Project
This project invites artists on the roof of their Jealous building to paint a mural contrary to the Shoreditch skyline. Francisco Bosoletti painted Cesaria on a wall in the town of Casarano, southern Italy. The mural was made for Viavai, a public art project of Salento and, following the signature style of Bosoletti, tells the story of Santa Cesaria, a troubled girl who ran away from her father’s abuse and who then lived in a cave, in company of two doves. The 3 studies were quantified up to scale and in T02213 and T02214 the artist has represented the panelling and central doors of the hall of Cecil Sharp House, hence suggesting the final positioning of the mural panels.
Now in its fourth season, the festival brings dozens of artists from around the world to share their abilities on building-sized canvases. The nine-day event kicked off on October 6 and Runs through October 14, though most of the murals will be finished within the initial seven days. Shepard Fairey has revealed that a 15-storey Johnny Cash mural at Sacramento, California as part of the Broad Open Walls Festival.
In consultation with Mayor Russell, Hugues set about to reinvigorate Dural Lane, with all Hornsby’s vibrant history as inspiration. Paying homage to the region’s heritage, the broad trompe l’oeil scene extends approximately 200 metres in length and includes a vintage, two-storey street spectacle of traditional shop fronts, retro signage and architectural elements including doorways and windows. The centrepiece of this mural is a homage to the iconic Australian comic strip character Ginger Meggs. Created by Hornsby resident Jimmy Bancks at the 1920s, the red-haired mischief-maker Meggs was founded on Bancks’ childhood friend and Hornsby neighborhood Charlie Somerville, who proceeded to become a prominent businessman and councillor.

Inspired by the client’s many trips to India and beyond, this formerly pokey entry hall into an inner city flat was completely transformed with ceiling to floor ornamental detail. In gentle blues and pinks, offset with golden yellows, this vibrant and sour mural added thickness and a surprising sense of space to what would have otherwise been a forgotten thoroughfare. While it’s definitely not for the faint hearted, it does illustrate the way cosmetic detail, in spite of popular belief, will help add light and volume to smaller areas.
Marijke Steedman is the Curator for Create. Hugues and Jean-François set regarding the painstaking job of replicating Michelli’s work when the contractors had made extensive repairs to the building. This mural was created by an Austrian artist Nychos at Belgium city of Werchter. Nychos painted one more of his magnificent lakefront animals, and this time they are covering the containers of this North West Walls 2015 festival. Selected artists will be expected to finish the last design, budget, and timeline by July 30, 2018, and have the mural finished by October 31, 2018.
